Well there has been so much speculations about the 4.1 jailbreak, we managed to get a few minutes with @MuscleNerd from the DevTeam about the progress in the 4.1 jailbreak, and asked the following questions.
Q1: How long have you guys been developing the 4.1 jailbreak ?

Q2: How many people are working on the 4.1 Jailbreak ?> In some sense, years! Many of the tools, methods, and concepts carry over from one jailbreak to the next. But as far as the stuff that's brand new and unique to this jailbreak, things really picked up on the day that @pod2g got his SHAtter exploit and payload working ( @Pod2G )

Apple TV is based on iOS but here's a quick heads up which confirms that Apple TV runs iOS. Apple has just posted iOS 4.1 for Apple TV on their servers, I know it's not useful for you because you don't need to restore to it as it comes with it! But this is just a proof.

SHAtter Decrypts AppleTV iOS 4.1 [Exclusive]
A few hours Chpwn tweeted about the new Apple TV firmware, which is indeed actually iOS based as we had hoped for. The firmware is even available to download from Apple's servers, before the product has even hit hands of anxious pre-order customers.
The main filesystem (“Mojave8M89.K66OS”) key for 018-8609-066.dmg is:

iTunes 10.0.1 Ping Drop Down Menu Remover [How to Guide]
Few day ago, Apple has updated iTunes to version 10.0.1 with the support of Ping side bar which allows you to share your favorite music with your friends, you can enjoy Ping new features throw the Ping drop-down menu, It is possible that this feature is annoying to some of you, so after the break you can see how to disable this feature from iTunes 10.0.1
Follow these Steps:
Step 1: Quit iTunes, then open Terminal.
Step 2: Copy and paste this into a single line.
Step 4: Restart iTunes. It's now done, the Ping drop-down menu has been removed.
Step 5: If you want to bring it back, simply repeat the same steps but replace the code in step 2 with this:

Jailbreak iPod Touch 4G with SHAtter Exploit [Video]
A few moments ago we surprised with a new video from the iPhone dev-team, The dev-team confirmed that the SHAtter exploit was enough to convince the iPod touch 4G to restore to a custom IPSW created specifically for this model. As you know the SHAtter exploit was developed by Pod2g (ex-Chronic dev). Dev-team also confirmed that the team is hard at work bringing us a brand new tool to make use of the exploit.
In the meantime, we’ve put @pod2g’s exploit into a beta version of PwnageTool to test the waters. The SHAtter exploit was enough to convince the iPod touch 4G to restore to our custom IPSW. The successful result is shown below! It’s all working: customized Preferences to show battery percentage, Cydia, root shell…the works!

Although PwnageTool was a useful first test of a full iPod 4G jailbreak via SHAtter, it’s really overkill compared to the faster tools being developed. Its main use in PwnageTool will be for those with iPhone4’s, to allow updates while preserving the baseband and ultrasn0w carrier unlock. In any event, this is another exciting time for iPhone and iPod touch users…the cat and mouse game continues!

GreenPois0n Jailbreak for iOS 4.1 is Ready to Be Released
A few minutes bfore we reported you that the Greenpois0n jailbreak official site has been updated today and after we made apost about all [Ask & Answers] about Greenpois0n Jailbreak, now Good news everywhere floating on the web about iOS 4.1 jailbreak with GreenPois0n.
The hacker behind SHAtter exploit has just published all decryption keys to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4. This means that the new USB-Based (Greenpois0n) jailbreak tool is completely done and ready to be released.
The keys were published on the iPhone wiki for iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1 to confirm that the tool is completed. According to multiple tweets from Pod2g, the developer of SHAtter's exploit, MuscleNerd has already used SHAtter with a pwned iBEC to get real proof that the exploit is working, iSpazio thinks that this words means theoretically that the new jailbreak is untethered (we hope so).
Pod2g didn't give any exact release time but believe me, it's very soon, we will keep you informed about any updates, stay tuned!

SHAtter-Exploit Jailbreak for iOS 4.1 will be Released Soon, Not Waiting iOS 4.2
Pretty cool news, the administrator of the iPhone Wiki and the popular iPhone hacker behind modified blacksn0w on iOS 4 has just announced that SHAtter jailbreak will be released soon as the hacker behind SHAtter exploit is not waiting for iOS 4.2 release from Apple, so we should expect it anytime this week or next week, stay tuned!!
They won't wait for iOS 4.2 to release SHAtter. iOS 4.1 will be jailbroken soon.
iOS 4.2 is scheduled to be launched in November for iPad, iPod touch and iPhone, but if the developers of SHAtter are not waiting for iOS 4.2 then the release is soon, there's no ETA yet, at least I can say that we will not wait long for this jailbreak which is not confirmed yet tethered or untethered, also we don't know yet if it's named SHAtter or Greenpois0n. Just release Sn0wbreeze 2.0.2 to Fix Error 17/40 Hacktivation Issues We already posted that Sn0wbreeze 2.0 and sn0wbreez 2.0.1 has been released to jailbreak iPhone 3GS new & old bootrom on iOS 4.1 and all other devices except iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 4G.
This post is how to guide for using Sn0wbreeze 2.0 to jailbreak your device (compatibility list below) on iOS 4.1, check the step by step guide after the jump.
Compatible devices & notes:
- iPhone 2G — No Jailbreak Needed
- iPhone 3G — No Jailbreak Needed
- iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) — Requires you to be already jailbroken. (If you are the old bootrom on Spirit or JailbreakMe use Spirit2Pwn on http://repo.woowiz.net repo)
- iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) — Requires you to be on 3.1.2
- iPhone 4 — Wait for SHAtter exploit, and GreenPois0n jailbreak
- iPod Touch 1G — No Jailbreak Needed
- iPod Touch 2G (MB) — No Jailbreak Needed
- iPod Touch 2G (MC) — Requires you to be on 3.1.2
- iPod Touch 3G — Requires you to be on 3.1.2
- iPod Touch 4 — Wait for SHAtter exploit, and GreenPois0n jailbreak
- iPad — Wait for SHAtter exploit, and GreenPois0n jailbreak
So, if you are compatible, go ahead and follow our step by step guide to jailbreak your device using Sn0wbreeze 2.0 (Note: we used iPhone 3GS new bootrom in this guide)
Step 1: Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
Step 2: Now start iTunes and sync your iPhone with your PC so that it backs-up all your important data including settings, apps, music, contacts and photos.
Step 3: Download Sn0wbreeze 2.0 and the original iOS 4.1 firmware file (download links at the end of the page). Move all these to your desktop.
Step 4: Start Sn0wbreeze ( please note that when used Win Vista or Windows7 , you need to start your application in Administrator mode , by clicking the right mouse button on the icon and selecting "Run as administrator" ) and select “Expert Mode” for easy process, then click the blue arrow to contiue.
Step 5: Sn0wbreeze will ask you to locate the .ipsw original firmware file. Point to the correct iOS 4.1 file by clicking on “Browse” button. Sn0wbreeze will verify the selected file and then will present you with following screens.
Step 6: If you use iPhone 3G (new bootroom) or iPod touch 3G, click on "General" then check “Use iBooty Method (3.1.2 Installation Required!)" , also you have to check “Activate The iPhone” if you are on unofficial carrier and want to hacktivate your phone by Sn0wbreeze. For iPhone 3G users you have to enable all choices as it add functions not added naively from Apple.
Step 7: Now select “Build IPSW” Sn0wbreeze will now create custom firmwares for your iPhone which is jailbroken, (Save it on your desktop)
Step 8: This step and step 9 are for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (MB Model) only, otherwise bypass step 8 and 9, Now Download iReb V4.0 (links at the end of the post) and make sure that iTunes is launched
Step 9: Launch iReb (to bypass iTunes errors) and choose “Online Mode” then choose your device
Step 10: Put your iPhone in DFU mode by following this step:
- Turn iPhone off.
- Hold Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds or so.
- Release Power button but keep holding the Home button until your computer recognizes a new USB device.
- iTunes will now recognize your iPhone
Step 11: Now, You will have to restore your iPhone to the jailbroken custom firmware by Clicking on the iPhone icon on the left sidebar of iTunes then hold left “alt” button (“Shift” button on Windows) on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” then release the alt button, Now Select the custom firmware created by Sn0wbreeze and Let iTunes go in a bunch of steps.
Step 12: Sn0wbreeze doesn't upgrade your baseband and will never do, so you can use Ultrasn0w 1.0 to unlock your iPhone by following the step by step guide posted here.
